Cindy Kelsey

Cindy's inherent passion to help people, especially children, has led her from a career as an elementary special education teacher to the healing art of massage therapy.

Cindy is a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist and 2012 graduate of Center of Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy.

Since graduating Cindy has earned certification in pediatric massage and specialized training to work with children with autism through the internationally accredited Liddle Kidz Foundation.

She has also been trained in Craniosacral therapy through the Upledger Institute.

This past December Cindy traveled to India with the Liddle Kidz Foundation to provide massage for children and to educate their caregivers on how to perform massage!

Cindy specializes in the following:

Swedish Massage -This is the foundation of my customized massage design.  This technique includes a flow of long rhythmic gliding strokes and kneading movements. Swedish massage increases circulation, can improve muscle tone, lengthen muscle tissue and decrease stress.  Your parasympathetic nervous system is activated (opposite of “fight or flight”), stress hormones are decreased  and your  body is able to intuitively heal and restore itself.

Deep Tissue Massage - is a profoundly therapeutic technique that facilitates the re-alignment of muscle tissue through the application of concentrated pressure to specific areas of the body held until the tissue releases.  Many believe that intense deep pressure and pain is required for this technique to be effective.  That is actually not true.  In fact, the most effective way to penetrate deeper into muscle tissue is with a lighter amount of pressure allowing the tissue to relax.

Myofascial Release - Fascia is a continuous web of very densely woven, connective tissue that envelopes all tissues and every cell in our body.  Myofascial (muscle fascia) Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure, gentle pulls or sustained stretches to the body.  It eliminates or decreases restrictions within the body’s fascia.

Craniosacral Therapy - This unique therapy is a light-touch approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and improve whole body health and performance. The therapist performs a series of holds along the body over your clothing to improve the function of your entire central nervous system.
